After an approximately 2-hour drive, we will stop at Thermopylae, the monument to Leonidas, king of the Spartans and leader in the famous battle against the Persians in 480 BC.
We continue our route and after about 1.5 hours, we will see the unique geological phenomenon of Meteora – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – a cluster of upright vertical rocks, on the tops of which stand Holy Monasteries, the second largest monastic community in Greece, after Mount Athos.
We will visit the two most important of them, the monastery of Megalo Meteoro, and that of Agios Stefanos, before returning to the picturesque town of Kalambaka, where you can stroll through the alleys and enjoy your meal in one of the traditional taverns.
